“You’re The Best!”

Wow! “The Robert C. Henderson Award” is a beauty. Who would have dreamed it could be possible?

Christina Martinez and I brainstormed along with my daughters about what would be the best way to honor Modupé Congleton, Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) for Amazon Stores at Amazon; Johnny “Sky” Walker, President of NFL Alumni-Austin Chapter; and Gordon Hartman, Chair and Founder of Morgan’s Inclusion Initiative. Our family was honored to have Monarch Trophy’s assistance in executing such a beautiful award that was presented to these inclusion pioneers at the end of the tournament. Our Robert’s favorite saying to us, “You’re the Best,” was the most appropriate inscription along with their names.

When we began working on this NFL Alumni Super Bowl of Golf Qualifier in the Fall of 2022, we never knew how big and wonderful it would become. Luxury Home Magazine presented a fantastic, big two-day event, and we raised significant revenue for Morgan’s Inclusion Initiative and Caring for Kids! It was a very meaningful day for me as I contemplated Robert’s life and legacy. My tears flowed increasingly throughout that day, and I could not hold them back at the awards ceremony.

What was once only a desire to do something significant in our community along with my girlfriends turned into a legacy moment. The deep sense of pride I felt for the people I worked with for months will remain a marker on my journey.

To all of the people who sponsored, attended, donated, volunteered, served, and acknowledged the need to do more for persons with disabilities, I honor you. You made the difference for our committee and community. Thank you for believing with us that inclusion matters.
